Learn to Skate at The Roller Cave

At what point do we stop learning? As we grow up we learn how to do so much. We learn how to read, how to write and how to swim. We all go through the terror of learning how to ride a bike or roller-skate. At The Roller Cave we are committed to teaching all ages and skill levels how to up their skating game no matter their current standing.

Roller Skates

Our skating lesson rates vary depending on the time that you learn. You can either learn during our times that are open to the public, or during a private session. Our expert instructors can help the most novice skaters stay on two skates, or our most advanced skaters learn to skate in competitions. If learning is what you want, we are the place for you.

Our skating rink is state of the art and we offer much more than just a circle to skate in. We offer a good time on top of a nice rink. You are certain to listen to good music and will witness some of the best skating you have ever seen in person. If excelling is what you desire, you are certain to experience that here.

As you explore your options for this summer’s activities, consider spending your time at Roller Cave. We will teach anybody, no matter his or her skill level. If casual skating and practice is more of your thing, we still offer public hours where you can come and experience our wonderful skating rink and other activities.

5 Batting Practice Tips

If becoming a pro at batting is on your bucket list, then it is time to grab a pen and visit The Batcave at Roller Cave. Our indoor batting cages offer you unlimited swings and opportunities to practice. We have created another list: 5 batting practice tips to becoming a pro. If you follow these steps, you will be well on your way to becoming a pro.

Be The Ball

This is a saying that I’m sure you have heard, but we want to provide an explanation. Be the ball is all about envisioning what you want the ball to do. They say that baseball and softball are extremely mental sports. This step is important. If you think about where you want the ball to go, your muscle memory will kick in and help lead the different parts of your body into the perfect swing.

Repetitions

The word repetition directly translates to practice. The more you do something, the closer you are to it becoming a habit. At the Bat Cave, you pay one price and can use the batting cages for the rest of the day. You must continue with swing after swing. It is only after practice that you can become a pro.

Have Confidence

Confidence is key. This is another saying that doesn’t mean much without context. One of the deadliest weapons out there is doubt. The mind is very strong and can easily be convinced to think certain things. If you doubt that you can do something, you most likely will not be able to do it. If you believe in yourself and have confidence that you can do something, you likely will!

Take Advice

Learning is very important. People have advice that they can offer that you can likely use. If you want to become a pro, you should ask for advice from a coach or successful batter.

Fix Your Weaknesses

Something that is very important is that you recognize your weaknesses. When you know you are doing something wrong, you have to fix it so that negative thing does not become a habit when you continue practicing.

What We’re Thankful For

Winding down the clock on 2016, and we can’t believe it’s already time for Thanksgiving. We know it gets busy this time of year with friends and family visiting, parties and gift shopping, so we wanted to sit down early and write down what we’re thankful for.

What We're Thankful For

Our Friends and Family

Ok, we know this one is a given and everyone always says it, but we truly are thankful for them. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you! We also have to be thankful for FaceTime, Skype, and other video calling services. They really have changed the way we connect with those we love who are spread throughout the country and the world.

The Best Food

You’ve probably heard us talking about this before, but this really is the best time of year for food! Not only that, we’re thankful that we’re able to put food on the table whenever we need to for our family. We can’t wait to start serving Thanksgiving turkey, mashed potatoes, and of course pumpkin pie.

Our Community

We’ve called Indianapolis home for many years, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. We’ll never take the support you’ve shown us through the years for granted. Whether it be through an online review, word of mouth, or celebrating your birthdays with us. We’ll always do whatever it takes to see all of you smile. Thanks for being the best city to live in, Indianapolis!

We hope you can also find the time this week to sit down and think about all you have to be thankful for. We now there’s a lot we tend to take for granted every day, and we bet you can think of a few very quickly!

Funny Mummy Weekend

Halloween week is here! Yes, we know it’s officially next Monday, but we’re calling it this week because the weekend right before Halloween can be the best weekend. Trick-or-treating, candy, cooler weather — it’s the perfect combination. That’s why we’re hosting a party all weekend! Funny Mummy Weekend begins this Friday the 28th!

Candy Bowl

What’s going on at Funny Mummy weekend? That’s a great question. Here’s a quick rundown for you.

  • Lots of candy — you won’t be disappointed
  • Mummy Wrap Contest — wrap your friends up and see if you can be the best mummy in the rink!
  • Halloween Music for our skaters
  • Costume Contests — we’ll have a costume contest every day! Maybe we’ll see some MLB costumes and a bat from our Dream Bat Giveaway!
    • Friday at 8:30pm
    • Saturday at 2:00pm, 5:30pm and 8:30pm
    • Sunday at 2:00pm and 5:00pm

We hope you’ll be able to join us before you head out on Halloween night to show off costumes to all your neighbors. Just like we’re all about safety at the Roller Cave, we also wanted to share a few quick tips for staying safe on Halloween night, too!

Choose Costume Props Carefully

A costume is only as good as its prop, we all know this. Costume props are best for costume contests, see above. But make sure your props are safe for walking around the neighborhood with. A pirate with a long sword could trip and fall if it’s swinging around, or a fairy with big wings could get tangled up if they’re too big!

Plan Ahead

An easy way to stay safe is to plan your trick-or-treating route before you leave the house. This way you can avoid big intersections, stay close to home, and have a good timetable for when you’ll be back!

Have a great Halloween!

1 Awesome Weekend With 2 Big Events

We have two exciting things to do in Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend at Roller Cave! Both of our events involving skating, friends, and fun for the weekend. Enough talking about it, let’s get right into it!

Things to Do - Bubble Gum Roll

First, we’re starting the weekend off with our Bubble Gum Roll. This event starts Friday the 30th and goes until the 1st of October. Does it bother you that you aren’t allowed to chew gum when you skate? Are you only thinking about listening to tunes, blowing a bubble, and skating with your friends? Then we have the event for you. There will be bubble game contests, prizes, races and we won’t even tell you to spit your gum out!

The following event this weekend is also exciting! At our Christian Skate Night on October 2nd from 6:30-8:30, we’ll be rolling to contemporary Christian and Gospel hits all night. Admission is $7 but groups of 5 or more receive a free skate rental! On top of that, the church or youth group who brings the most students will receive free admission to another Christian Skate Night. (Which will be November 13th and December 11th!) Who know, maybe you can even beat your youth pastor in Crossy Road!

For both of these events, don’t forget that we’ve recently upgraded our entire Roller Cave arcade section! We added more basketball games, Jurassic Park, Crossy Road and many more! We hope we’re able to see you and your friends this weekend when you’re looking for things to do in Indianapolis this weekend!

The Top Three Family Movies from this Summer

Maybe you’ve just wrapped up batting practice at the Bat Cave or maybe it was a fun day of exercising, but you aren’t ready to head home yet. Summertime is the best for watching new movies, so our staff put together a few of our favorite family-friendly movies for you to catch!

Best Family Movies

The BFG

Young Sophie meets a twenty-four-foot giant and names him BFG. She quickly learns not all giants are out to eat children, but not without encountering a few unfriendly giants along the way! Take your older kids along (it’s rated PG) and join them as they try to convince Queen Victoria the bad giants should be taken care of!

The Secret Life of Pets

Especially if you’re a pet owner, this movie will be perfect for you and your family. How many times have you left your pets at home and wonder what they’re up to? The creativity of the storyline will have you laughing and having a great time with your entire family.

Finding Dory
Did you think we could make this list without hitting this classic! Well, it feels like a classic because Finding Nemo came out back in 2003. This time, follow Marlon, Nemo, new friends, and a few old ones on their adventure to help Dory find her family. Some may argue Finding Dory isn’t as heart-warming as Finding Nemo, but that doesn’t keep it from becoming an instant family favorite.

No matter how you wrap up your summer, we hope you’ve enjoyed the warm months as a family and are always looking forward to hosting your next birthday party. See you next time!
