1 Awesome Weekend With 2 Big Events

We have two exciting things to do in Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend at Roller Cave! Both of our events involving skating, friends, and fun for the weekend. Enough talking about it, let’s get right into it!

Things to Do - Bubble Gum Roll

First, we’re starting the weekend off with our Bubble Gum Roll. This event starts Friday the 30th and goes until the 1st of October. Does it bother you that you aren’t allowed to chew gum when you skate? Are you only thinking about listening to tunes, blowing a bubble, and skating with your friends? Then we have the event for you. There will be bubble game contests, prizes, races and we won’t even tell you to spit your gum out!

The following event this weekend is also exciting! At our Christian Skate Night on October 2nd from 6:30-8:30, we’ll be rolling to contemporary Christian and Gospel hits all night. Admission is $7 but groups of 5 or more receive a free skate rental! On top of that, the church or youth group who brings the most students will receive free admission to another Christian Skate Night. (Which will be November 13th and December 11th!) Who know, maybe you can even beat your youth pastor in Crossy Road!

For both of these events, don’t forget that we’ve recently upgraded our entire Roller Cave arcade section! We added more basketball games, Jurassic Park, Crossy Road and many more! We hope we’re able to see you and your friends this weekend when you’re looking for things to do in Indianapolis this weekend!

Skating Lessons in Indianapolis

Families who skate together make memories together. Isn’t that how the saying goes? At the Roller Cave in Indianapolis, we love seeing all the families who come in to skate together and spend time laughing and smiling. However, we know there are all different levels of skaters out there, which is why our teaching pros are offering group lessons every Monday from 5:15-6:00pm starting on September 19th!

Skating Rink at Roller Cave
At Roller Cave, we offer different types of lessons for all skill levels! Here’s what we teach in each lesson:

  • Pre Skater: Fall Down, Get Up, March & Coast, Dip, Helicopter
  • Beginner: Steer Circles, Flamingo, Braking, V Start, Forward, Scissors
  • Basic Beginner: Scooter Pushes, Stroking, Steer Quarter Circles, Kangaroo Hop, Surfer
  • Intermediate Beginner: Backward Scissors, Stop Backwards, Steer Half Circles, Two Beat Steps
  • Advanced Beginner: T-Start, T-Stop, Shoot the Duck, Whole Circle, Turn Forward, Spread Eagle

If this all sounds a little foreign right now, don’t worry. Our instructors have years of experience, and you’ll be executing the hardest moves in no time! In our group lessons, your entire family will have some fun and learn a few tricks together. If Mondays aren’t available, that’s ok too! Registrations for our two special Saturday Skate Clinics on 10/15 and 11/19 from 11am-2pm are now open as well.

Once you learn a few moves, you and your family will be eager to get back to the rink and glide around effortlessly. Then, it’s the perfect time to come to any of our themed skate sessionsSee you out there!

The Top Three Family Movies from this Summer

Maybe you’ve just wrapped up batting practice at the Bat Cave or maybe it was a fun day of exercising, but you aren’t ready to head home yet. Summertime is the best for watching new movies, so our staff put together a few of our favorite family-friendly movies for you to catch!

Best Family Movies

The BFG

Young Sophie meets a twenty-four-foot giant and names him BFG. She quickly learns not all giants are out to eat children, but not without encountering a few unfriendly giants along the way! Take your older kids along (it’s rated PG) and join them as they try to convince Queen Victoria the bad giants should be taken care of!

The Secret Life of Pets

Especially if you’re a pet owner, this movie will be perfect for you and your family. How many times have you left your pets at home and wonder what they’re up to? The creativity of the storyline will have you laughing and having a great time with your entire family.

Finding Dory
Did you think we could make this list without hitting this classic! Well, it feels like a classic because Finding Nemo came out back in 2003. This time, follow Marlon, Nemo, new friends, and a few old ones on their adventure to help Dory find her family. Some may argue Finding Dory isn’t as heart-warming as Finding Nemo, but that doesn’t keep it from becoming an instant family favorite.

No matter how you wrap up your summer, we hope you’ve enjoyed the warm months as a family and are always looking forward to hosting your next birthday party. See you next time!

Rewarding Good Behaviors With A Trip To Roller Cave!

If your kids are like most, they have enjoyed every last minute of the summer time! It’s always fun having them around the house during the summer, but we all know that kids can wreak havoc when they have too much free time! With school starting soon, your children will be transitioning into a new routine and will have less free time than usual. It will be more important than ever to encourage positive habits during this time of transition as well as throughout the school year. After all, younger children are at an influential age and can benefit from positive reinforcement.

We can’t think of a better way to provide your little ones with positive reinforcement than a trip to Roller Cave! Here are a few ways you can incentive your child’s next trip to Roller Cave in Indianapolis, Indiana:

Reward good behavior with a trip to Roller Cave!

  1. Chore Wheels

Let’s face it, even we know chores can get boring and repetitive sometimes. Liven up their routine by making a chore wheel and introducing a few new chores to the mix! When they complete every chore in the wheel, reward them with a new adventure — maybe the BatCave!

  1. Bringing Home Good Grades

You probably remember how hard it can be to get back in the swing of things once school starts back up. Can you believe it’s almost here?! Those first few weeks can be tough. What better way to show your children you’re proud of them for staying focused and bringing home good grades than by taking them out to skate with their friends!

  1. Acts of Kindness

Nothing warms your heart more than seeing your little ones share random acts of kindness with others. Whether they decide to share their snack with a friend who dropped theirs or offer to help you without any instruction, it’s important to let them know these acts don’t go unnoticed. When their birthday comes around this year, maybe it’s time to plan a skate party for them!

Have a Back to School Party and Make It Count!

It’s not always going to be this way. We know it’s hard to think about, but your kids are not going to be little forever. Sometimes you don’t know the true value of a moment until it is a memory. At Roller Cave, we want to help you make those moments count and create lasting memories! Before your kids go back to school and take the next step in their academic career, have a back to school party at Roller Cave!

Three Telltale Signs You Need New Skates

Here at The Roller Cave in Indianapolis Indiana, we love watching the faces of young and young at heart glide around our rink. The look of Skating linesheer joy brings a smile to our faces. Often times, however, people’s roller skates become worn, or in the case of our young guests, become too small and new ones are a necessity. We are proud to provide skate replacements via our Roller Cave Skate Shop, but want to educate those torn if it is time for the investment by providing telltale signs that it is time for new skates.

  1. If your roller skate has a visible deformity: This one is pretty obvious, but if all of your wheels have cracks in them, your toe stopper has a chunk out of it, or the leather on your skate has a hole, it may be time for new skates. You could replace the individual parts with the wheels and toe stopper, but it will probably be just a short time before something else breaks, costing you more money in the long run.Skating kids
  1. If you have outgrown your roller skates: As previously mentioned, this generally happens with our young skaters whose bodies are still growing. If your feet have outgrown your skates, it is time for new ones. Fit is very important, and one of our staff members will help you, if needed.
  1. If your skates are lost or stolen: There is no better time than when you literally do not have roller skates, to buy new roller skates. Whether you left them somewhere accidentally or someone actually stole your skates, come by the Skate Shop to pick out your brand new ones!
